X-SeeO2 XRPD TRAINING COURSE

CEMENT SCIENCE LABS, XRPD LAB & ADA BYRON RESEARCH CENTRE – UMA

21st – 24th September 2026

From the 21st to 24th September 2026, XSeeO₂ hosted the XRPD Training Course at the University of Málaga (UMA). The training activities were held at the Faculty of Science, and included practical sessions at  the SCAI-UMA – X-ray Diffraction Laboratory, with the experienced technicians there.

Sessions were also held at the excellent conference facilities in the Ada Byron Research Building – home of the EIC-Pathfinder Challenge X-SeeO2 project.

Postdoctoral researchers Ilda Tole and John Morley from the University of Bath, one of the X-SeeO₂ consortium partners, took part in the training. The sessions provided an excellent opportunity to establish and consolidate X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) methodologies, covering sample preparation, data collection using both laboratory and synchrotron X-ray diffraction facilities, and subsequent data analysis.

The training also contributed to harmonising experimental and analytical procedures among X-SeeO₂ partners and strengthening collaboration within the consortium.
